Hope Hospital: A Pillar of Healthcare in Port-au-Prince for 32 Years
For over three decades, Hope Hospital has stood as a cornerstone of healthcare in Port-au-Prince,
Haiti. Established 32 years ago, the hospital began its mission focusing on pediatric and maternal
care. Following the devastating earthquake in 2010, Hope Hospital responded to the growing
needs of the community by expanding into a full-service, 80-bed hospital equipped with four
operating rooms, an intensive care unit (ICU), and a Neonatal Unit (NICU).
Today, Hope Hospital is a comprehensive health care system that includes an outpatient clinic, a
24-hour pharmacy, a full-service laboratory, and an imaging center. In 2017, a much-needed
dialysis center was added, addressing the critical shortage of such facilities across the country.
The outpatient clinic offers a wide range of specialties, including pediatrics, internal medicine,
obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), ophthalmology, otolaryngologists (ENT), and
orthopedics. The hospital receives approximately 25,000 outpatient visits, 5,000 emergency
room visits, and 3,000 hospitalizations annually, and performs about 600 surgeries each year.
With a dedicated team of 160 employees, Hope Hospital not only delivers essential health
services but also serves as a vital source of employment and professional development in the
region. Today, it is recognized as a reference healthcare institution in the community, committed
to providing quality, accessible, and compassionate care to the people of Haiti.
