Help a Child
Some Children Currently at Village of Hope |
About our Friendship ('Zanmi' is Friend in Creole) ProgramFor $45/month you will help USFCH care for the children in care.
Each child in our care is there on a transitional or permanent basis depending on family abilities or if they are able to be located. The goal is to eventually work with families when possible to help children be reintegrated. Then working with the families to possibly help with educational support so children may still be in their families on a semi or permanent basis. This includes working with each family to help visit, assist with parenting education, and contribute to the child's needs to assist with successful reintegration. We work closely with the Village of Hope Psychologist to make sure that needs of each child is uniquely taken into consideration. Your friendship provides: Educational Support, living expenses, and medical expenses while the child is in our care. You will also have an opportunity to give for birthday celebrations and a Christmas party. Once you sign up to be a friend, you will be emailed a child partnership. This child will be matched to sent letters and you can send letters. |

Hope Home
Rainbow of Love
Rainbow of Love Nursery was originally established to care for the increasing number of babies under the age of two who were being brought to FEH for care and some who were found abandoned at the General Hospital. Now Rainbow of Love Residents is our home for children who are in current need for temporary housing due to various reasons. Children live with full-time house mothers and security staff. The goal is to work with family when possible to have the children work towards reintregration. Currently the building has shared eating space, laundry area, one bathroom per two housing rooms, and bedrooms for the children to stay in. Outside is area for the children to run and play. |
HOPE HOME
Hope Home was created in 1993 after Gladys Thomas was contacted when the General Hospital in Port-au-Prince could no longer care for twenty-three children who have been diagnosed with special needs.
The design of the building is created to help individuals with special needs. Including ramps, railings, and large doors to allow for wheel chair accessibility. Here the residents also receive daily physical therapy, education, medical care at Hope Hospital, and assistance with daily tasks when needed. Depending on their need some Hope Home residents stay with FEH their entire life, while others are there for respite care for families who need. Residents that stay live with a designated housemother. |
FUTURE PLANS
Community Sports Complex
The New Academy of Excellence (NAE) has created a start to inviting the community into the Village of Hope. The next step in the process is to create a community sports complex. Sports has always been a way to bring people together. This complex will open doors to reaching more families, give a safe place for children to play, and grow the programs FEH offers. This complex will be located on the front portion of the grounds away from the residential quarters. Programs will be coordinated with NAE. This is a huge project, if you want to help please contact us at [email protected]. |
