(located at the Children's Village)

Cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, profound autism, severe vision impairment, and other complex disabilities were burden enough for twenty-three children found in 1993 living in "The Room for Abandoned Children" at Port-au-Prince General Hospital. Their misery was made worse by broken cribs, filth, and lack of attention, treatment, and care.
Gladys Thomas could not walk away from these children as others had. Fondation Pour Les Enfant's d'Haiti rescued them, taking them to a home to be cared for. Since then additional abandoned, handicapped children have joined them; and together they live in a specialized facility constructed at the Children's Village of Hope. Here they continue to be nurtured with love and dignity receiving the emotional support and intellectual stimulation needed by all children.
